The previous Guard Captain.

Bio:

The previous Guard Captain.

Sigurd Balthazar was the previous Guard Captain before being ousted by Jane, Zoog, and Hans. He was known to be a lazy, uncaring, and selfish Guard Captain who spent every night at the Venal Voyager with different women. Nobody else in the guard could afford to do this, at least not with the quality of women that the Venal Voyager had to offer. He overworked his troops and treated them poorly, resulting in many of them disliking him but unable to take action due to his position and connections. He was well acquainted with Shadow, leader of the Thieves’ Guild, and was suspected by many of taking bribes from the Thieves’ Guild as well as giving them useful information.

While attempting to de-stabilize Stadt-Latrap, Jane and Zoog were out running errands for the Thieves’ Guild in exchange for a favour or two. One of their errands was to get information on the suspected protection tax raise which the guard was supposedly going to impose on the Thieves’ Guild. This was merely a lie concocted by Jane, but she had everyone fooled. Jane, unfortunately still in a bit of a fugue state, misunderstood the task they wanted her to accomplish for something else despite the fact that she essentially came up with the whole plan. She thought that she was supposed to get Sigurd to pay the Thieves’ Guild the money he owed them or there would be serious repercussions. Jane began to blackmail Sigurd for being a closet homosexual with a thing for Neanderthal men like Zoog, and after a bit of bribing on the part of Zoog and convincing on the part of Jane, Hans stepped in and rallied the troops into a mutiny. With the charismatic support of Jane, Hans acquired the backing of every soldier in the guard and was appointed the interim Guard Captain.

Sigurd was then taken captive by Jane, Zoog, and Little One, and they returned to the Thieves’ Guild to report on their success and collect their favour. Little One took them directly to Shadow instead of the higher-up who had assigned them the errands, and they turned Sigurd over to Shadow. Shadow was extremely pleased with this surprising turn of events involving the installation of a much more manipulable, malleable, likeable, and hard-working Guard Captain, and granted Jane her favour.

What happened to Sigurd after that? No one really knows, so far…
